Job Description

Church Mission: Love, serve, and connect people to Christ.

Primary Focus: The Associate Minister’s primary focus shall be to assist the Senior Minister with various ministerial and clerical tasks, to provide oversight of the student (teen and college-age) ministry, and to participate in the preaching rotation. Relationship building is a core focus of this role. Duties shall include:

Administrative Tasks:

- Work with entire staff to set the vision and goals of the church

- Work with entire staff to prepare annual church activities calendar

- Assist Senior Minister with the sermon calendar

- Oversee and staff various ministries of the church (fill vacancies, prepare signups, schedules, etc.)

- Oversee small group ministry (leader training and encouragement, curriculum assistance and purchasing, and other organizational responsibilities)

- Produce monthly church newsletter

- Assist Senior Minister with planning and implementing Good Friday Services, Easter Sunrise Services, and Christmas Eve Services

- Assist Senior Minister with planning, organizing, and implementing mission trips

General Ministry Tasks:

- Share a portion of the preaching schedule – preparing and delivering Sunday sermons

- Assist the Senior Minister (as needed) by officiating weddings or funerals, as needed or requested

- Occasionally assist the Senior Minister with home, hospital, or nursing home visitation, as needed

- Connect church attendees to serving ministries that align with their giftedness

- Connect church attendees with small groups

Student Ministry (7th Grade – College-age) Tasks:

- Provide pastoral counseling/guidance to students

- Make hospital visits for students, or notify other staff if you cannot attend a surgery/visit

- Recruit, train, organize, and provide teaching material for volunteer student small group leaders

- As needed, assist volunteer leaders in connecting disengaged students to an active group

- Prepare and distribute summer camp forms, letters, and notices for Jr. & Sr. High students

- Ensure students have transportation to and from camp

- Plan, organize, and implement at least 6 special activities (concerts, teen conferences, fun outings, etc.) per calendar year for the purpose of bringing students together for fellowship

Other Responsibilities:

- Form relationships with church members and seek evangelistic opportunities with members of the community and surrounding area

- When possible, participate in Sandborn community events or church events that involve the opportunity to interact with students and parents

- Spend at least half of the Monday – Friday work week in the office, using this time productively towards ministry tasks, counseling, clerical work, meetings, or setting up for events. The other half may be spent off-site doing ministry tasks, while comping time for weekend job responsibilities

- Be available during reasonable hours through e-mail, phone, texting, or social media. Work/life balance is important. Ensure that you create sufficient personal time for yourself and family/friends

- Other duties as may be assigned
