SFCC Ministry Internship Program

SFCC Internship is a brand-new program for college students who are looking to gain more knowledge in various areas of ministry. The opportunities provided in the internship are intended to help students connect, gain experience, find their calling, and grow in their relationship with God and their church community.

We are a growing, small-town church averaging 106 (as of the end of 2023), and we have been taking intentional steps to be healthier and to keep growing the Kingdom. Our staff has longevity with the church (Senior Minister - 21 years, Children's Minister - 9 years), which is a testament to the loving and generous nature of the congregation. We are always looking ahead to future staff hiring, and we feel that interns will be another valuable addition to our church culture and a win-win for both you and us.

The SFCC Internship program is available for college students who apply in the spring semester of their freshmen through junior year for the following fall term. Interns shall be reimbursed round-trip mileage for each trip from their home/school to SFCC as well as earn a scholarship payable to their university in the amount of $3,000 (paid at the end of the first completed semester, applied to his/her second semester balance).

To be accepted, you must:

  • Be a committed Christian (for at least 12 months).

  • Be a college student who is 18-25 years old.

  • Have a strong sense of the call of God on your life and a proven Christian lifestyle, consistent with Scripture.

  • Be (or have been) a regular and active member of a local church (for at least 6 months).

  • Have the physical, emotional, and spiritual health required to successfully undertake ministry training and responsibilities.

  • Graduated from high school (or equivalent) and are enrolled in college-level ministry courses.

Some logistical things to note...

  1. Upon receiving your application, our committee will review it and contact you if we would like to proceed with an interview.

  2. After the interview, if we feel you will make a great addition to our team as an intern, we will extend an invitation to you, along with the terms of the internship, and you may accept or reject the offer.

  3. A total of two (2) interns (at this time) will be selected each school year to serve with SFCC. If you have applied and our quota has been met for the upcoming school year, we will contact you to let you know and present you with the option to remain on our contact list for the subsequent school year.

  4. Upon application, interview, and acceptance, the internship will begin the first weekend after school commences for the fall term, and it will end at the conclusion of the spring term. Exceptions will be considered, if necessary.

  5. The internship comes with no guarantees of future employment opportunities and shall consist of a one-school-year (2-semester) term internship only.

  6. Interns will work under the supervision of the Senior Minister, but he/she will work alongside of each staff member at various times, engaging in a variety of tasks and duties, as assigned by each minister. He/She shall devote approx. 6-8 weekday hours to ministry work, as well as participating in Sunday services.

  7. We advise you browse our website and learn a little about us before submitting an application. If you have any questions prior to applying, please feel free to contact the Senior Minister.
