“That’s not a hill to die on,” is a military expression that’s become a figure of speech in the English language. It refers to an issue or situation that someone wants to address, but they realize that it would cost too much to do so. However, there are some hills worth dying on because they are at the core of who we are and what we are seeking to accomplish. There are many values that are good but are less important than others in the grand scheme of things. Most aren’t hills to die on. In this series, we’re going to be talking about the hills that we, as a church, should die on—those values that are “mission critical” for sharing the Gospel and removing barriers to Jesus. These are the values that help accomplish our mission to “Love, serve, and connect people to Christ.”
