If you’ve ever read through the Gospels, there are these moments when Jesus says things that make you cringe. You read it, and you’re like, “Oh, man, did He really just say that? Did He really mean that?” And it makes us uncomfortable.

Over the next four weeks, we’re going to look at some of the things Jesus said that caused some friction with both His original audience and with those of us still reading His words today. But it’s important to understand that when Jesus said these things, it’s not that He slipped or was trying to be shocking or mean. Jesus was not afraid to offend us because He genuinely loves us and wants us to grow. Because, the truth is, without friction, we never really change.
