Welcome! On behalf of the congregation of SFCC, I’d like to welcome you to our website. I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you a bit about our congregation. Our motto says that the Sandborn First Christian Church is "a place where people serve, love grows and lives change." Though we are imperfect vessels, we strive to let God use us in ways that will help His kingdom grow in our community and the surrounding area. If you are currently seeking a church home, we would love for you to join us for worship on Sundays at 9:15. If you have any questions about the church or anything on this website, you may contact me by phone at (812) 694-8872 or by email at bsanders@sandbornfcc.org. Hope to see you soon! God bless, What to Expect at SFCC We would be excited to have you join us for worship, and our goal is that you will feel right at home among us! Here are some things you may wish to know before visiting SFCC. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us. For those with Children: We have supervised nursery for ages 0 through 2 yrs. old. For 3 yrs. old and up, Kids Time (Jr. Church) begins with all of the children together for praise time in the Children's Church room in the basement. Then, the kids are separated into two classes: one for 3 yrs. old through Kindergarten and one for elementary grades 1 through 6. At the start of the service, your child can head downstairs to the Children's Church room to begin Kids' Time. Greeters can help send you in the right direction. We also offer Sunday School classes for all ages immediately following worship. Our Worship Service: We offer what is generally referred to as a "blended" worship service - meaning that our song selections contain newer songs and older favorites. This hopefully allows worshipers from all walks of life to engage in praise that is meaningful and draws them into the presence of God. Worship is multifaceted and not just limited to music, so like most church services, we also worship through prayer, communion, giving of our tithes and offerings, and studying the Word of God. Communion: We partake of communion each Sunday. That seems very frequent when compared to many other congregations, but we feel this most closely models the practice of the New Testament church. Communion, or The Lord's Supper, is a special time when believers remember the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for our sin. Our communion service is open to all believers. If you name Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then He invites you to share at His table. We have no right to bar any Christian from this sacred time of communing with Christ. When the emblems are passed, you may partake of the bread as you desire. As for the cup, you may partake as you wish, but we generally partake in unison once instructed. Then, you may dispose of your cup by placing it in a cup holder on the backside of the pew in front of you. Offering: We also include an offering collection as an element of our worship to give our members the opportunity to give back to the Lord a portion of His generous blessings. These funds are then allocated by the Church Board to support the work of the church. We do not expect our guests to give anything when the offering plate is passed, but if you desire to worship with us in this manner, you are welcome to do so. Decisions: At the conclusion of the message, we offer a time of decision. You may come forward at that time if you would like to make Christ your Lord and Savior and be baptized, or as a baptized believer place your membership with this local congregation, publicly recommit your life to Christ, or request special prayer. The minister will meet you down front and privately discuss your decision and the next steps to take. If you do not wish to come forward during the service, you may contact the minister after the service to discuss your decision.
